Buchette d'Anjou is a modern fresh cheese which originated in an area named 'Anjou' in the Loire Valley, France. The cheese looks like a wood log and so it latterly means 'a small log from Anjou' in English. The cheese is made of goat's milk and has a slightly acidic flavour. It tastes best when fresh and creamy. Though it is covered in charcoal powder which is edible, it is preferably eaten without the rind. Buchette d'Anjou is used as table cheese. Also, as it grills well, it is served along with salads.
